It Sour
Cream
Pound |

2 cups flour
1 teaspoon baking powder
1/2 teaspoon salt
1 cup (2 sticks) butter or
margarine
12/3 cups sugar
5 eggs
1 1/2 teaspoons vanilla
1/2 cup sour cream
Heat oven to 325 degrees F. Grease 9 x 5 inch
loaf pan. Mix flour, baking powder and salt in
small bowl. Beat sugar and butter in large bowl
with electric mixer on medium speed until light
and fluffy. Add eggs one at a time, beating well
after each addition. Beat in vanilla. Add
flour mixture alternately with sour cream
stirring after each addition until smooth. Pour
into prepared pan. Bake one hour and ten
minutes or until toothpick can be inserted in
the middle and come out clean. Cool ten minutes.
Remove from
pan, place on cake dish and cover. |

Chicken & Dumplings |
1 broiler-fryer
chicken, cut into pieces(3 lbs.)
2 stalks celery, cut into 1-inch
pieces
3 carrots, cut into 1-inch pieces
1 medium onion, quartered
11/2 tsp. salt
1/4 tsp. pepper
1/2 cup flour
2 tablespoons cold water
1 egg white
Bring chicken, water to cover,
vegetables, salt and pepper to a boil in large pot.
Reduce heat; simmer 30 minutes or until chicken is
tender. Remove chicken and vegetable; set aside. Discord
celery and onion. Mix flour, water and egg white in
small bowl until stiff dough forms. Roll on lightly
floured surface untol dough is 1/8 inch thick. Cut into
1-inch strips. Bring remaining liquid to a boil in pot.
Add dumplings; return chicken and carrots to pot. Cook
on medium-high heat 10 to 15 minutes.
